Made to fit. Built to last.

Every Só Madra lead and collar is handcrafted and made to order in our home workshop in Eyemouth, a harbour town on Scotland’s south-east coast.

Made for our own Spaniels first

How it started

Só Madra started because I couldn't find what I wanted for my own dogs. The right colour, the right size, quality that held up and hardware that didn't rust or fail: I could never get all of them in one lead or collar, so we set out to make it ourselves.

What began as a fix for my own Spaniels is now a small Scottish business making handmade dog leads and collars to order, for other dogs and their humans

Practical luxury that works as hard as your dog does

Why we do it

We know how much a dog's lead and collar get used. They're on every walk, in all weather, and they're the one thing connecting you to your dog. They should fit properly, hold up to daily use and look good while they're doing it.

That's the whole idea behind Só Madra: practical luxury that works as hard as your dog does.

Made to fit. Built to last.

Hand-spliced marine rope and premium leather, finished with stainless steel or brass

How we make it

Our rope leads and collars are hand-spliced from marine-grade double braid rope using a traditional marine technique, with no knots, glue or clamps. A splice keeps more of the rope's strength than a knot and gives a smooth, neat finish that sits comfortably in your hand. Our leather leads and collars are made with the same care over fit and finish, and every piece, rope or leather, is finished with solid stainless steel or brass hardware.

Most of our leads and collars are made to order in the size you choose, and our Ready to Ship collection has pre-made pieces that go out within 1 to 3 working days. For something more personal, our Bespoke service lets you choose the colours, hardware and measurements to suit your dog's personality.

Marine craftsmanship runs through all of it. My husband Keith spent 16 years as a deep-sea fisherman, and he checks our work against the standards he relied on at sea.

No knots. No glue. No clamps. Just hand-spliced marine rope.

Made in Eyemouth, on Scotland's south-east coast

Where we are

Every piece is made in our home workshop in Eyemouth, a harbour town on Scotland's south-east coast.

The coastal paths and countryside around us shape our colours and designs, and they're where our own dogs get their walks.

Whether you walk the coast or the hills, we make our leads and collars to keep up with you.

A little bit of Gaelic

The name

It took us a while to come up with the name. We wanted something a bit different that would represent the brand well, and our two dogs Nala and Bruno feature in our logo.

Our Crew

The first to test everything

Bruno and Harris, our Working Cocker Spaniels, and Nevis, our English Springer Spaniel, are the first to test every new design.

We also remember Nala, our English Springer Spaniel and the original Só Madra crew leader, who is still very much part of the story.

The maker behind Só Madra

Meet Gillian

Hi, I'm Gillian, the maker behind Só Madra.

I'm a Scottish maker of dog leads and collars, and every piece reflects my marine craftsmanship skills and my standards for quality, durability and style. I take my inspiration from the coast and countryside, and my Spaniels influence everything I make.

I look after every order personally, from your first message to the finished piece.

If there's anything you need, get in touch and I'll help make it happen.
